any advice?

Well, its good to hear from everyone, and i am as usualy doing pretty good (except im currently sick). I just got a lot of news on some different things and was wondering what other people thought about it. I just heard about an airborne unit being formed in Alaska and they really need paratroopers, so all i have to do is tell my drill sergeant and i can go airborne and join the unit. The catch, of course is that hte unit is obviously active and that would prevent me from going home. It sounds like really cool oportunity, so i just want to know what others think of it and what they might do in the same situation.

Piece 2 is that my division has just shipped out for Iraq and has replaced the 3rd Inf Div. Im not exactly sure what my unit is going to do (there in Cuba), so i might not have to go, but i just thought that was quite interesting.

Piece 3: I'm really interested in buying a laptop. I really dont have time to look on the net for one, so i was wondering if anyone4 had some free time they could look around for one. Im looking for something pretty good that i can use for entertainment now, and for college when i get home.

Hope everything else is going well, im gonna head back to the barracks and probably sleep or something

February, we hardly knew you

I laughed Dad, when I saw that. I'm assuming you're referring to your capture of that serial killer huh? As for the meeting, I didn't realize that Marcie let her drinking turn into a problem, that's unfortunate. Marcie, just cut it out, ok?

We didn't get any snow here in Ohio, some flurries here and there, but that's it. I heard you Northeasterners are getting hit this weekend.

As for the presentation, it got bumped to this week, and the meeting this week got canceled, so it never went. I have the documentation and all, and I'm prepared to present for anytime in the future, so we'll see.

Last night I went out to see some bands play on OSU campus. It was pretty fun. I got to see Long Beach Shortbus, which has Eric Wilson, the bassist from Sublime, playing with them. They played a few original songs, and some Sublime covers, and overall were great. I got to shake the bassist's hand after the show, too.

I have some pictures from the show that I took with my camera phone, and if any came out good, I'll post them up here.

So, I was thinking of playing soccer with my company's team tomorrow, but I'm thinking I might pass for now. I've been running the past few weeks, but I'm not at the point where I think I could pull off playing a full half, just yet, and I don't want to play at all if I can't pull that off. Danny, can you stand in for me ? Or X, with your 3 minute mile time, could you sub in for me?

And to pass this along, X, this was from The Pilgrim's Progress:

Thou hast met with something (as I perceive) already; for I see the dirt of the Slough of Despond is upon thee; but that Slough is the beginning of the sorrows that do attend those that go on in that way; hear me, I am older than thou!
  - John Bunyan   The Pilgrim's Progress:

This is your dad writing, I want to make sure that you know I am still in NJ, in case you check out this site,

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/ap/20050226/ap_on_re_us/btk_killings

We had a good week here in NJ, a nice storm on Thursday night, which gave me a good excuse to work from home on Friday and for Marcie to stay home from school.
Apparently there is a big storm coming on Monday night.

Phil, how was your presentation? did everything go well? Did you get any snow this week?

Xavier, your philosophy paper was good, but way over my head... You have to write for the masses. Monique, you have to do sushi for us when you come to NJ. It looks professional. Is that a takeout box, I see in the picture?

Dan, good talking to you this week. You'll make a great NCOIC for s2. How is AIT? Are you still doing PT everyday? How often do you get CQ duty? just kidding... someone was complaining about my use of acronyms last week.

Marcie, went to AA with me yesterday. What did you think? Going to the medowlands for a concert tonight. I think that Tio Eddie got arrested for scalping Led Zepplin tickets outside of medowlands arena, be careful...

Mom and I had a frustrating morning today dealing with NJ government and trying to get our fingerprints taken for the foster parent bit. All I can say is, unbelievable! but at least they didn't ask for a bribe.

have a great week!

NO NEW POSTS?

Hey Guys,

Whats going on? Everything here in New Haven is pretty much the same. How is the rest of the world? Hope life is good. Talk to you later.

TDW (Three Day Weekend!)

It has been a while since I blogged...so i am a little rusty. It is good to hear all of the stuff going on out there in Boteroland!

Phil you are the man (or should I say the nittany lion?). Keep working hard and stop smoking. Do you know what courses you will take in the fall? Are you starting in the summer session?

Xavier and Monique, hope all is well (I hear that the price of milk has been going up, something about someone cornering the market in the northeast...). X I like the shoes... You should see Blitzen, mom took her for a spa day, they gave her a bath, brushing, hair cut, nail cut. She looks like a different dog. How did your philosophy paper come out? We are looking forward to having the two of you here during spring break..

Dan, I like to hear that you are doing extra PT. That is good for you. Try not to fail any more tests, use your military intelligence (there is a reason why they call it that). We are looking forward to your graduation at the end of April. The other day I was helping the Knights of Columbus and I realized that the Army stopped KP (Kitchen Police), now I realize what is wrong with our modern army, pealing potatos and washing pots and pans is basic combat training...

Marcie, where are you???? Haven't seen you blogging lately. Keep working in school and on your SATs.

Job is going well, although I am still getting used to commuting on the bus again. It is not so bad except getting home so late some days. I guess it is better than not coming home and being a couple thousand miles away. The only bad part of the job is that we will wind up terminating some people from the company we bought.

Anyway, I have TDW and I am going to enjoy it!
I do have a big honey-do list,
but I'll do my best not to let it get in the way of my rest!

Penn State

Just passing the word along, I got accepted to Penn State. I'll be doing their online program, so that means I actually will have an excuse for being on the internet so much.

The Midwest Outpost

No more exciting wins and things to share. Working right now on a presentation I'm giving on Thursday, purely KT&T stuff, or knowledge transfer and training. Its a little tiring, yet really useful, to try and compress and dumbify everything I've learned in the last two months into a dinky powerpoint. How best to distinguish between a Fund and an FM Area ? Do I really need, nyet, am I allowed to make copies of the operating budget document? You should see how much money is in there.

Now to complete my antithesis to Dan's last post. I ate a whole pizza by myself tonight!

I'm taking time off for Mom's initiation in June. Are the rest of you taking more than just the weekend off? Because if you are, and you're not rude, maybe I'll stick around a few more days. Mom can give me some hints for when I apply for the 104th Fighting Nuns battalion.

all good on the southwestern front

well, i've been kind of out of it lately, but today was (and is) one good day. Yes, its saturday and they gave us duty, but everything went well. First off, i had a PT test that i've been working hard to get ready for and i managed a 247(out of 300). I did 80 situps in 2 minutes! only 51 pushups, but thats still ten better then my last one, and then my run i only got 14:45. Even though, my run was high I know i could have easily gotten 14 flat(dont ask me why i didn't, because i really dont know why), if i ran a bit faster. overal though, i've been doing PT every night for the past three weeks and its made a big difference.
then the best part of the day was much later on, when my drill sergeant read my essay, and gave me my phase 5+, which means i can walk around alone, go out later, have a car, and not need overnight passes(i can just leave post for the entire weekend). The final good piece of good fortune is i dont have Sunday duty, which they keep giviing to me for absolutely no reason.
im just in a really good mood so i had to get on and talk, hope everyone else is doing as well.

Conquest of Peru

in the new building we moved to we sit at computers with secret access, and theres some interesting stuff out there. Anyway i told xavier about this and was wondering if anyone was up for a week or two long trip overseas. Lately i've really wanted to learn spanish and figure that'll probably be the best way to learn, so if anyones up for it tell me. Money shouldn't be a concern, because i dont plan on spending much at all, i just want to go and soak in the culture.
by the way, anyone see the super bowl last week? whew that was one heck of a game.
well hope everyone is doing as well as Phil with his brand new tv.

As big as cats

So I got a picture of Napolean from Mom, subtitled "Buddha." It is hilarious it is so right. I think if we rub his stomach, we'll get Zen luck as they say.

Things are good out here in Ohio. Getting cracked down on our team by the bosses, mandatory overtime, as if we weren't putting that in anyway, and we get a party thrown for us this Thursday night. Yep, Thursday. That means its going to be a rough friday. I can't wait to ruin my company's party.

As for the rest of you out there, scattered throughout the country, hope everything is going great.

X, I read the paper on the doctrine of the double effect. Good paper, I find it hard to read at points, but I felt smarter having read it. If you have spare time, lets solve the abortion debate.

Monique, I hope you're feeling better from losing your pet. Having just lost Lady, I have to say I'm there with you. I always think back to what a great life these dogs get, much better than our human ancestors if you think about it and go back far enough. And thanks for the coffee. I'm such the caffeine snot, now.

Marcie, when is your trip?

Dan, give me a call when you get the chance. You getting any more days off?

Mom/Dad, thanks for that package, it was awesome. I really appreciate it. My cabinets look better now, the poptarts were lonesome.

And the new car.

Come on Weather, walk it off.

This week, mostly sunny, just about 30 degrees . Perfect in comparison to the rest of the days.
